SECRET CIRCUITS

Secret Circuits came into the studio for the new "mini Y.U.B.S." edition of Lunchtime Live with Nick Phelps on Friday the 19th of February 2010.

The group (along with a small drum kit and the biggest keyboard some of the Phoenix staff have ever seen!) played live songs, and songs from their latest release.

THE RED PILLS - EXCLUSIVE EP LAUNCH

Phoenix regulars The Red Pills came in to Lunchtime Live on Friday the 29th of January 2010 to talk to Nick Phelps about their brand new EP "Missiles", upcoming gigs and to play some exclusive live tracks.

The lads from The Red Pills came down to the studio for what turned into a mid-day edition of Y.U.B.S. (Yorkshire Underground Band Show)

Armed with two acoustic guitars, strong vocals and an empty tin of Celebrations(?) The Red Pills performed two songs...and you may even find footage of the tracks on our videos page soon!!!

Tom, Jim, Freddy and Nick

ARTHUR RIGBY AND THE BASKERVYLLES

The Leeds-based band came in to the Phoenix FM studio to talk to Trevor Dawson on the 17th of December 2009.

Arthur Rigby and the Baskervylles came in to talk about headlining their (then) upcoming gig at The Eiger Studios Festival in Leeds, a gig with bands from both Liverpool and Leeds, and their new single which was made available through iTunes and other mp3 download sites on Monday the 21st of December 2009.

Ben, Alex, Neil, Hannah and Jess came in with their new CD and a variety of instruments, including a keyboard, a tambourine, a guitar and 2 violins. Playing one track from their CD and one live track, Arthur Rigby showed why they headlined the gig.

THE IDLES

The Liverpool-based indie band came in to Phoenix FM to talk to Trevor Dawson on the 17th of December 2009.

The Idles came in to talk about their gig at The Eiger Studios Festival in Leeds, a gig with bands from both Liverpool and Leeds, and their new EP 'Arrogance Through Ignorance' which will be available through iTunes.

Dan, Ben and Aaron of the band came in to drivetime, armed with their new EP and some acoustic tracks, recorded especially for Phoenix FM, including an outstanding cover of Slade's 'Merry Christmas'.

EXOTERIC

The rock/metal group from all over Yorkshire came in to Bad To The Bone to talk to Phil and Zab on the 9th of November 2009.

Exoterik talked to the guys about their old album and partnership with the producer that worked with the band HIM, and their new album that they produced themselves, playing through several exclusive tracks from their new album "Butterfly In Your Hand"

JERZEY STREET BAND

The Country / Folk Rock Manchester-based band came in to talk to Megan Longworth on Country Collections on the 31st of October 2009, and also played some acoustic tracks.

The hugely popular band came to talk to Megan and play some songs, including one written for her, and while the whole band couldn't get all their instruments into the studio, the mix of music and band chat made for a great show.

SECRET IN TODAY

Secret In Today came in on Drivetime on 25th of September 2009. They had a chat with Trevor Dawson and performed a live acoustic set.

Mark, Simon and Tony spoke about how they formed, their popularity, gigs, plans, stalkers, their missed band member Shane (who was unable to make it) and much more!

THE MCCARRONS

On the 24th of August, Richard O'Brien was joined in the studio by The McCarrons for a chat and some live acoustic tracks.

The McCarrons are an acoustic/indie/folk band from Halifax. Formed in 2004 by Michael and Louis McCarron on Joint Vocals and Guitars. Blair Murray was added as the bands drummer in 2008.

EXTRA CURRICULAR

Ruby, Thabo, Jack and Noah from the 8-piece Extra Curricular joined Mike Sharman in the studio on the 28th of August's edition of Coffee Culture for a chat and some exclusive acoustic tracks.

Extra Curricular are a Hip-Hop / Soul / Funk group from Huddersfield and features some of Huddersfield's finest musicians. All the members are involved in other musical projects but have teamed up to create an exciting new fusion of sounds.

OPERATOR SIX

Bradford band Operator Six joined Trevor Dawson on the 16th of July 2009.
Originating from Bingley and Keighley, Operator Six played an acoustic set of new songs, and spoke about their upcoming list of gigs, kicking off in Sunderland on 17 July 09. Songs from their self-titled EP were also played.

The band have worked with Paul Weller on many occasions, supporting him at his gigs.

THE RED PILLS

The Red Pills, from Leeds, appeared on Friday 22 May 09's Drivetime with Trevor Dawson. The band spoke about the release of their new EP - Awakening.
They performed an acoustic set from their new EP.
Nick and Fred spoke about where they were from, and Tom brought in a toy, that Tommy from the band Space had signed. Jim was the quiet one.

THE SAILMAKERS

Keighley band - The Sailmakers - came onto Drivetime with Trevor Dawson, on the 8th of May 2009.

The band played an acoustic set and spoke about how they have recently started and also where they would like to be in acheiving goals.

D:REAM

Trevor Dawson (Drivetime) caught up with D:Ream on Easter Sunday (12th April 2009) in Oldham, whilst on their new tour of gigs around Great Britain. One of their most famous songs, 'Things Can Only Get Better' reached Number 1 in the UK Charts back in the 90s, and now D:Ream are making a comeback with a dance indie sound.

With a planned new D:Ream album on the way later in 2009, the fellas spoke about why D:Ream disbanded and what they'd been up to since 1997. They also spoke about how they had a chance meeting in a park and decided to reform as a band, and what their future aims are.

DAVID TYRELL

All the way from Liverpool, the band David Tyrrell joined Trevor Dawson on Drivetime on the 8th of April 2009.

David Tyrrell (vocals/guitar/piano), Chris McKeown (bass) and John Mulholland (guitar) chatted about their music, their aims and also played accoustic live in the studio.

They enjoyed being on the show so much, they returned on Trevor Dawson's Drivetime on Friday 24th April 09 - they played another acoustic set and also spoke about gigs, photoshoots and producers!

LADYBOYS, THE SAILMAKERS and NORTHERN GLORY

Three West Yorkshire bands, Ladyboys (from Leeds), The Sailmakers (from Keighley), and Northern Glory (from Calderdale), came in to the studio on 2nd April 2009, to join Trevor Dawson on Drivetime.

They each played two songs accoustically, and they also promoted their gigs (dates being 3rd and 4th April) and the launch of a new music venue in Leeds.

MISPELT TWO POINT ZERO

On the 28th of March 2009 Punk and Disorderly's Steve Blackman brought in punk band Mispelt Two Point Zero for Trevor Dawson to talk to.

Dance, Punk and chat... an unusual mix you might say, though Mispelt Two Point Zero had come from Northampton to perform in Halifax and were on a small tour of gigs, and Phoenix FM managed to grab an interview with them before they performed live!

THE MAYBES?

Drivetime's Trevor Dawson caught up with Liverpool indie band The Maybes? in Leeds, whilst on their tour around Great Britain.

The Liverpool band spoke about who they were and how they are unique in the music scene, and also what made them into who they are as a band.

CHAO:SPHERE

Industrial Death Metal Band, Chao:Sphere appeared on Bad to The Bone on the 8th of December 2008

Chao:Sphere came all the way from Glasgow, Scotland, to perform live in the studio and chat with the boys.

The guys that came in were "The Wolfman" Sully (Vocals), 4BZ (Guitars / Programming), Craw (Guitars / Programming), Pash (Bass) and Stevil P (Drums).

Drivetime's Trevor Dawson interviewed Calderdale indie band, Theclectix, in December 2008 just before the The Farm gig in Leeds (which was then unfortunately cancelled).
Being the major support for Merseyside band The Farm, the lads discussed the gig, future plans, future gigs, and what they hoped for in 2009.

SONGS FOR DESPERATE DOGS

Jonathan Taylor performs, live in the studio, two track from his CD 'Debut - the collection'. It's a compilation put together from tracks on previous releases, and is being sold to raise money for BSAPP, a dog sanctuary in Bulgaria, where Jonathan has a studio.

The sanctuary desperately needs new premises, as the current neighbours consider it a nuisance and have killed three dogs and vandalised the power supply. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of 'Debut' will go to the appeal fund.

Interviewed between the songs, Jonathan tells how he became involved with the cause and talks about his music and his hopes of bringing together British and Bulgarian musicians.
