The Ashiana is set in the old Town Hall buildings in Elland and although this is Grade II listed the interior has 200 covers is ultra modern, split level and contemporary chic.

The staff were very friendly and attentive but not obtrusive, having been shown to our table we were presented with the menu of a rich selection of classic Indian cuisine.

To start, we chose the mix starter which gave us a sizzling platter of chicken tikka, chicken wings, chicken pakora and fish masala which was undoubtedly the star of the show - a must try.

For main Megan selected the Karahi Fish and Potatoes which is mildly spiced and was beautifully cooked. I asked for a Balti of Lamb, spinach and lentil which is not on the menu but the chef was more than happy to prepare the special order and it did not disappoint, well balanced spice flavours and perfectly cooked lamb. To accompany our meal we had a nan bread which was more than adequate for the two of us and was amusingly served hanging vertically from a metal tree! All in all the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. The layout lends itself equally well for 'dinner for two' or large family outings.

Ashiana whilst offering a full a la carte menu also have a new buffet of 40 dishes all through the week - great value and they will soon be starting a lunch buffet as well.
