I recently went along to the Chilli Lounge, situated on Huddersfield Road, Halifax; formerly The Stafford Arms and more recently, Luigi's Italian Restaurant.

I had previously visited their excellent buffet that they serve Thursday and Sunday evenings but this was an opportunity to explore other things from their extensive menu. Now there are over 120 mains to choose from and some are possibly best left to the more adventurous, for example the ostrich and venison dishes. So I started with a mixed kebab dish that consisted of an onion bhaji, chicken tika and a sheekh kebab. Now these can sometimes be overcooked and dry but the Chilli Lounge's were perfect. Freshly cooked and with a salad side dish augmented by a tasty mint sauce. For my main dish I chose the Cox Bazar mix, a plate full of several meats and seafood plus sweet vegetables which gave a unique taste with every mouthful. I also had a side dish of lemon rice and a keema nan. Again, both dishes were cooked to perfection.

The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated with one wall displaying a subtle changing light effect. Extremely modern décor in a relaxed atmosphere. To me, one advantage is that it is out of the town with free parking at the road side. The service is excellent and I would suggest that this was one of the finest curries I have tasted locally. Admitted there are a few more to go through and I am determined to try them, time and waistline permitting!
