The Cinnamon Lounge is set in the semi-rural village of Rishworth with country views and is surprisingly within easy reach of the M62 (junction 22). Adjacent to the bridge over the Ryburn river there is ample parking and excellent access for disabled.
Once you enter you could be forgiven for thinking you had walked into a swanky city eatery but you are soon put at ease by the friendly staff and relaxed ambience. The service is efficient and unobtrusive and the staff are very happy to explain some of the more unusual dishes.
And so to the food! I confess I am a lover of Indian cuisine (having grown up in Birmingham) and I was not disappointed. To start we had the mixed starter - seekh kebab, onion bhaji, chicken and lamb tikkas all of which were good and the tikka particularly succulent. Also from the starter selection we tried Machilli Sukka, a new one for me but well worth a try. It consists of fish laced with sweet and sour sauce then deep fried in crispy batter. I would definitely go for this again.
The selection of main course has all the usual suspects but a pleasing array of chef specials. We had the classic butter chicken and one of my favourites Sagwalla Lamb (lamb in a rich medium spice sauce with the addition of spinach) both of which were cooked to perfection.
To accompany our mains, we were presented with a wide selection of side dishes from which we finally decided on Aloo Gobi (potato and cauliflower tossed in spiced garlic), Matar Paneer (Indian cheese with peas in a spiced gravy), mushroom pilau rice and a nan bread. All of which were equally good in quality.
All in all a pleasing dining experience. It is well worth noting that this venue has 120 covers and is family friendly. They do a Sunday Buffet for a fixed price of £8.95 per adult and £6.95 per child (under 12) which represents very good value and is available from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.A final surprise was Christmas Day special - 5 courses for only £25 (£15 children).
