My son and I went along the other night to check out the new World Buffet, based at Bull Close Lane here in Halifax, just across from Casa Coffee. We were greeted by Ferrnando, the owner of Hot Shots who showed us the full range of food which was nicely displayed beginning with a full Mediterranean salad. The food that was available was ample with Indian, Chinese, Italian and also a burger-type selection for children.
Each type of food had 3 or 4 choices along with side dishes and starters. My problem is that I love Indian food and probably overindulged and therefore didn't get the best of the rest! My son had Indian starters and pizza. When we were there a family party was taking place and everybody was enjoying themselves.
To finish off there were plenty of dessert choices, all well displayed with excellent waitress service.
The restaurant is spacious and clean. Balancing such a range can't be easy but I feel that overall it works and I would recommend it as a place for families to dine out with plenty of choice for every age.
One final note is that, having sampled several all you can eat buffets and having the girth to prove it, there is a knack to getting the best out of one. I've started to feel that sometimes all the food in a buffet can begin to taste the same, especially an Indian one. I think that this can be down to the most dominant flavour, the hottest overriding the less spicy options. It can perhaps serve you well to ask advice as to which are mild and which aren't then start by sampling the milder ones and working up. The advantage of a World buffet is that this doesn't necessarily apply. You can find out more about them on their website.
