To quote The Dells, “Oh What A Night”, not the Four Seasons!
Saturday February 10th, 2018 was “a night to remember”… and not one Shalamar track was played!
Months in the planning paid off when the Willow Royd Masonic Hall at West Vale moved and grooved to the sound of Motown and Northern Soul. From the first drop of a needle on the record the floor remained full of dancers. Phil Gott, Howard Priestley and Nikki-Lee Clarke took turns on the turntables mixing Motown gems with golden nuggets of Northern soul.
A big, big thank you to our very own Andy 'The Hat' Garrett for contacting Morrisons Supermarket and Parfetts Cash & Carry, who donated the food. He also arranged for Mexborough Freemasons Lodge to let us use their fabulous facilities and who made us feel very welcome. Simon Pemberton for running the Bar all night and Leo for selling the raffle tickets and keeping the place tidy. A massive thank you, again, to Andy for contacting Revo Records in the Westgate Arcade, Dorsey’s Butchers in the Halifax Borough Market, Dean Clough Business Park, the Grooming Room at Croftmount Pet Resort, Elland Brewery, the Gundog Pub who all gave raffle prizes. Plus a thank you to anyone who donated a raffle prize on the night.
Last but most definitely not least, Suzanne Copley for ticket sales, running the kitchen, doing the door and much more behind the scenes stuff. Phil and Matt for supplying the equipment and lights and everyone who came to make it one unforgettable night. The next one is already in the planning!
£500 was raised which will help to get us closer to completing our new studios at Fletchers Mill.
