Community Radio for Calderdale

Phoenix Radio has been established since 1998 by local people who feel that Halifax should have it's own community radio station. We have successfully broadcast six Restricted Service Licenses over the years with the help of volunteers.

In 2004 the government changed the legislation and made way for a third tier of radio, community radio. Community radio stations around the country were given the opportunity to apply to Ofcom for a full-time community radio license in November 2004 after a very long wait, we were awarded a licence in September 2005 which means that Halifax has it's very own radio station for the first time in history.

We would like to ask the residents of Halifax their opinion on whether having a community radio station for Halifax is a positive thing and what they would like to see featured on the radio.
