Phoenix Radio has been broadcasting to the local community in Calderdale full time for almost 20 years. Throughout this time we have remained committed to offering broadcasting opportunities to as many individuals and local organisations as possible.

We work with and support a variety of people from a wide range of backgrounds, as well as interviewing representatives of community groups. We promote and support local businesses, charities, sports, musicians, students, creative personnel including writers, artists, actors and poets, and even take part in local events.

Why Get Involved with Phoenix Radio?

As a community radio station we rely heavily on our hard working group of local volunteers. They are vitally important to ensuring that we are kept on the airwaves 24 hours of the day, whilst also fulfilling our duties as a community based media organisation.

Not all our volunteers come from a media background, and not all of our volunteers come to present a show. We offer a wide range of roles which are equally as important to keeping Phoenix FM functioning. From behind the scenes work such as editing and event planning, to sales and marketing based work too.

If you are student, looking for a career change, or simply wanting to try something different, we offer people the opportunity to work in the medium of radio and to develop skills that may be transferable to other areas of work and social outlets. For some we offer the chance to give something back to the community and make a difference to the people around them. For others we provide an opportunity to develop their self esteem and confidence, helping them build on existing experience and knowledge.

No matter what your background or abilities, if you have the drive, aspirations and determination, why not come and join our growing community of volunteers.

How Do I Get Involved?

Due to the nature of volunteering we are always on the look out for people who can provide time and commitment to our dynamic group and support our cause. Whatever your background, if you live locally, are interested and passionate about music, radio, helping others and supporting the local community, Phoenix FM wants to hear from you.

Please note:

• Successful applicants will be invited to come down to the station for an informal interview and introduction day, where you will get a chance to meet our team and see what we do.
• We might not always have your ideal role available and presenting roles will be subject to availability and only granted after a training session in our recording studio.
• Past media experience isn’t necessarily what we are looking for.
