Help us at Phoenix FM to raise in the region of £10,000 to allow us to continue promoting diversity, by supporting marginalised members of the community.
As a community based radio station we rely heavily on grants to keep going. The process of grant applications can be both complex and highly competitive, especially in recent times. We believe that it is important to nurture individuality, and many people we have successfully provided support for over the years have gained so much confidence and self belief from the learning and inclusive environment we provide. In order to keep up to these standards, as both a local radio station and as a community hub, funding is essential to help cover our extensive overhead costs for running. Heating, lighting, rent and broadcasting licences are just some of our many expenses.
Over the years we have worked with and supported many people from a wide range of backgrounds. Our facilities are used to encourage and engage those from our diverse community, these include people from all age groups, ethnic backgrounds, and those with physical and mental disabilities too.
We are run almost solely by a group of hard working volunteers who give up their time freely. Interviewing representatives of community groups, promoting and supporting local businesses, charities, sports teams, musicians, students, creative personnel including, writers, actors, artists and poets, and even taking part in local events with our roadshows and live broadcasts.
With your support it is hoped that we can continue our hard work, providing the people of Calderdale with both a locally focused 24 hour broadcast radio station, and as a community based hub for those under represented individuals and groups within our society.
